2027 Honda Passport TrailSport Gets Lifted Suspension, Tougher Styling and More Features
The Honda Passport TrailSport is becoming even more capable for 2027. Honda has announced major suspension, styling and equipment upgrades designed to improve the rugged midsize SUV’s off-road performance while preserving the comfortable, responsive driving experience Passport owners appreciate every day.
The enhanced 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport is expected to begin arriving at Honda dealerships later this month.
Higher Ground Clearance for Greater Off-Road Capability
The biggest change for 2027 is an extensively reengineered TrailSport suspension. Honda redesigned nearly 70% of the major suspension components, including the springs, dampers, control arms, stabilizer bars, knuckles, front driveshafts and front subframe.
These changes raise the Passport TrailSport’s ground clearance by 1.38 inches, increasing it from 8.27 inches to an impressive 9.65 inches.
The additional height helps the Passport TrailSport travel over rocks, ruts, uneven trails and other obstacles with greater confidence. It also improves the SUV’s approach, departure and breakover angles:

Honda engineered the new suspension as a complete system, rather than simply installing taller springs. The goal was to provide more off-road clearance while maintaining proper suspension geometry, predictable handling and a refined on-road ride.
Designed for Trails—and the Daily Drive
Although the new suspension improves off-road capability, the 2027 Passport TrailSport remains designed for everyday driving.
Honda says the reengineered suspension provides improved steering feel and response, helping the Passport remain comfortable and composed on highways, city streets and winding roads. That combination makes it a practical choice for drivers who want a rugged adventure SUV without sacrificing daily comfort.

Tougher TrailSport Styling
Honda has also strengthened the Passport TrailSport’s rugged appearance for 2027.
More prominent front and rear fender flares emphasize the SUV’s wider, more planted stance. A redesigned lower front fascia adds a tougher look, while two amber LED marker lights incorporated into the low-profile hood scoop provide a distinctive TrailSport signature.
A new Smoke Blue Pearl exterior color joins the available color selection for 2027, replacing Obsidian Blue Pearl.
These styling updates build upon the fourth-generation Passport’s bold design while giving TrailSport models an even more recognizable off-road personality.
More Standard Features
The 2027 Passport TrailSport also receives additional standard equipment.
The TrailWatch camera system, previously standard only on the TrailSport Elite, is now standard on every Passport TrailSport model. TrailWatch provides multiple exterior camera views to help drivers see obstacles that may be difficult to spot from behind the wheel.
This additional visibility can be useful when navigating narrow trails, uneven terrain and tight parking areas.
A heated steering wheel also becomes standard on Passport TrailSport models for 2027, providing additional comfort during cold Delaware winters.
Built in America
The fourth-generation Honda Passport was designed in California and developed at the Honda Automotive Development Center in Ohio.
Every 2027 Honda Passport and Passport TrailSport is built exclusively at the Honda Alabama Auto Plant using domestic and globally sourced parts. Honda also plans to begin exporting the Passport TrailSport Elite to Japan in early 2027.
TrailSport models have quickly become the most popular versions of the Passport, accounting for more than 80% of Passport sales as of June 2026.
